2015-03-21Baby bunnies!  All of them together!

Mom’s name is Zorio, she’s obviously the biggest one in the middle.  Starting from the left is Zander, then Zumba, Mom Zorio, then Zofo and finally Zola.

It’s so much fun to have them in the house, and we play with them every morning and night.  An easy, easy winner to “beauty of the day”, so much so that I have to remind myself that I need to be aware of many things, and can’t just take cute bunny photos all day long.

2015-03-20I’ve returned to the first location I took the very first “beauty of the day” shot:  the arbor just outside our front door.

This is sunrise yet again, but seen through the arbor, it feels completely different than the photos I take just a few feet to the east.

My kids watched me as I came back in from taking the photo this morning.  “Did you get the beauty of the day, Mom?” they ask.  It seems everyone is looking for it now!

2015-03-19“Come to me,” calls the tree!

It could be the beginning of a poem… or maybe it is just how involved I’ve become with looking at the markings of the branches against the sky.  As the late afternoon sun set behind this graceful old fellow, I thought he easily won “beauty of the day”.

(My daughter now looks for something as we walk out of the classes together, too.  She thought this was a good choice, and I think I should respect the wisdom of a 10 year-old!)

2015-03-18Winter won’t be over here in southern Vermont for at least another three or four weeks.  Even then, it can still seem very much like winter.  (I’ve seen seen five inches of snow here on May 20th one year.)

But the leaves of one of the water plants I’ve tried to overwinter is still going strong in its (smelly) water.  Beautiful!

2015-03-15Sometimes it’s the little things that I think are pretty.  What did I find in this?  Well, honestly, it was the fact that the water in the creek was running–not frozen!  It’s a true sign that winter is losing its grip, that spring is coming.

Still, the snow and the starkness of the trees that lingers… there is more beauty there than I thought I’d find.

2015-03-14Had to take this shot as we got dressed to go down the driveway to meet the bus this morning.  The little bunnies are growing!  This little guy, whom we named “Zander”, has “helicopter ears”.  One of them goes up, and one of them goes down.  He is absolutely adorable!

“Beauty of the day” is perhaps more correctly called “cuteness of the day” in this shot.  Love this little guy!

2015-03-13Dawn comes earlier again.  I can feel spring might come soon, if not in warmth and green grass, at least in the hours of daylight.  No longer do we all get up in the dark and go to bed hours after the sun sets.  The sunrise is there now, if I only look as I come back upstairs from an early morning workout in the basement.

Again, the beauty is all around me… I only have to pay attention!

2015-03-12Downtown Brattleboro has many churches, but this one has been turned into a performance center named, aptly, “The Stone Church”.  As twilight set in, the glow from inside the church contrasted with the snow outside and the cross-shaped statue.  I stopped to take a photo after my daughter and my normal weekly outing to knitting and zumba class.

Many people on Facebook found this one kind of “Halloween like”.  One called it “kind of gothic”.

I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.  I thought it was warm and comforting!

2015-03-11Who can resist these?  They are the petals of the hyacinth I purchased for $3 at the local grocery store.  They smell  great, too–and they last for quite a while, too!

Beauty noticed, but truly, beauty sensed and appreciated for probably 10-14 days!
