2015-03-01Know what this is?  It’s an ornamental cabbage–from last fall, frozen stuck in its window box.

But it’s still pretty.  It doesn’t smell all that great… but it still looks good!

I would not have gone over to look at it, if it weren’t for this New Year’s resolution, either!

2015-02-28OK, my family thinks that this does NOT deserve “beauty of the day”.  They all now have lots of opinions about what is good–and what is not.  They think this is just bark on a tree.

And they are right:  it is.

But look how it is peeling.  And how it has lots of colors.

I know:  I have not convinced you, either.  Still, it is different, and I would not have noticed it if I had not made this silly New Year’s resolution (13 days late!).

2015-02-27Maybe it’s too easy to find beauty in the flowers I often bring home from the supermarket?  The assignment was to notice the beauty.  I noticed beauty in the grocery store when I chose the three types (3 bunches for $15 was the special price).  I noticed beauty when I decided how to arrange them in the vase.  And I noticed again when I took the photo and chose it for the “beauty of the day” award.

It’s a bonus day for me, then, if I was that aware of the beauty around me! Feeling happy that I made this New Year’s resolution.

What will I feel in December, I wonder?

2015-02-26I realize I have taken a shot of this steeple before.  Today, it caught my eye out the window of the zumba classroom my daughter and I were in.  I actually stopped to shoot before the light faded away, because it would have been too dark by the time the class finished.

I wonder what it means that I now stop what I’m doing to take photos of “beauty” when I see them?  I used to have to think about it and look for it all day. Now, it just seems to be there all the time.

2015-02-21OK, so this is me, and when I put it out on my Facebook page, calling “Beauty of the Day”, someone quipped, “You or the bunny?”  I mean the BUNNY, of course!

This is one of the little babies that was born on February 4th.  Well, I think they were born on February 4th.  But I couldn’t see them until they were hopping around in the cage with their mom.  It’s so cold, at least five nights this month with temperatures around -20 F (-29 C)–actual air temperature–and more cold if you count in the windchill.

I am overjoyed to see that there babies–and that they are alive!

Now that they are moving, it seems our best choice is to bring them into the house, my husband agrees.  So, four little baby bunnies and mommy bunny will be moving to our mudroom.  I expect that they may make more “beauty of the day” entries!

2015-02-21bFor the first time, I have a second “beauty of the day”–the snowy barn was too good to pass up.  I was driving home from running errands, and this barn stood out in the snow.
